The Benefits of Beauty Sleep

We all appreciate the value of a night of restful sleep. It can recharge our batteries after a long day and help us live our best lives. While everyone needs sleep to function normally, sleep does more than just hit a metaphorical reset on our energy levels. The benefits of beauty sleep can have monumental impacts on our physical appearance as well. When you aren’t looking your best, it may be time to examine how much restful sleep you are really getting every night.

Beauty Sleep

While the benefits of beauty sleep are plentiful, the biggest benefit is younger looking skin. Lack of sleep can lead to pesky bags under the eyes, swollen eyelids, and an overall puffiness to your face which will definitely make anyone look older. Lack of sleep has been proven to cause premature aging in the form of baggy eyes and unwanted wrinkles, especially for repeat offenders not getting enough sleep. One of the other benefits of beauty sleep, aside from fewer wrinkles, is the overall appearance of your complexion. When you are sleeping, there is an increase in blood circulation which causes a glowing complexion after a restful night of beauty sleep. This increase in blood flow also affects hair. When you are not getting enough rest, your body is working overtime without a break. Your body becomes less effective at retaining nutrients, and your hair takes on a dull, damaged appearance.

Another reason to get the recommended amount of 7-9 hours of beauty sleep a night is the overall health benefits. Aside from the improvement in appearance, a lack of sleep has been connected to a variety of diseases and conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and obesity. It can also be harmful to those dealing with depression, anxiety, and a host of other conditions. Sleep also helps the body heal faster from common ailments, such as colds.

With so many health and beauty benefits, everyone should make an effort to get their beauty rest every night. From glowing, younger skin to safeguarding your overall health, sleep is definitely a necessity to help you live your best life.
